Kendrick Lamar, the Pulitzer Prize-winning rapper and fashion icon, has overhauled his styling team mid-tour, tapping creatives Marika-Ella Ames and Zara Mirkin to curate his evolving on-stage wardrobe. The shift marks a new visual era as Lamar headlines the Grand National Tour alongside SZA.

This change signals the end of an era with stylist Taylor McNeill, who had shaped Lamar’s fashion identity for over three years, styling him for events such as the Super Bowl halftime show, the 2022 Met Gala, and high-profile magazine spreads. McNeill’s styling helped Lamar embrace “introspective masculinity” while cementing his status as a fashion-forward performer.

Now, with McNeill focused on other A-listers like Brad Pitt and Timothée Chalamet, Lamar’s new collaborators are bringing in an edgier, grassroots energy. Ames and Mirkin have reimagined Lamar’s stage style with eclectic pieces, including shredded dice-print jeans, oversized denim, studded belts, and items from rising brands like Fountain of Soul, alongside luxury staples like Chanel and Supreme.

The transition appears amicable, but McNeill’s agency has since removed Lamar from their client list, and no official statement has been released by either party. While it’s unclear if McNeill will return in any capacity, Lamar’s visual pivot suggests the torch has been passed.

The shift mirrors a broader trend in men’s fashion. This summer, Brad Pitt also appointed McNeill for his Formula 1 film press appearances. Meanwhile, other stars like Justin Bieber and Pedro Pascal have similarly refreshed their stylist teams in 2025.
